Question: What do other religions believe about Jesus? Do they not believe that Jesus ever existed?
Answer: Few teachers of other world religions deny that Jesus ever lived. There is great historical evidence apart from the church that proves Jesus lived and died just as the Bible reports. Others teach that Jesus was a man of good reputation who practiced kindness and taught people to love one another. Some think of Jesus very highly and commend Him for calling the Jewish temple priests hypocrites and for accurately foretelling future events. They say that he was, at the most, a true prophet like Moses, Elijah, Jeremiah, and Isaiah.
Jesus Christ’s followers know Him as more than just a prophet. Jesus’ own disciples wrote that He was who He claimed to be, the only Son of God:
Jesus asked His disciples, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?” So they told him that some say He is John the Baptist, Elijah, Jeremiah, or one of the other prophets who have come back to life again. Jesus asked them, “Who do you say that I am?” Peter answered. “You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God.” Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for no man could have told you this but only God Himself…” Matthew 16:13-18
The chief priests and scribes asked Jesus, “If you are the Christ (our messiah), tell us.” But Jesus said to them, “If I tell you, you will by no means believe me or let me go. In the future, you will see me sitting at the right hand of God in heaven.” The priests asked, “So you are the Son of God?” And Jesus answered, “You are correct that I am.”
Luke 22:66-70
The Bible explains that Jesus, God’s son, was a part of the Trinity of God who came to the earth to show people what God was really like. He also came with the purpose of sacrificing Himself so that people could live eternally with God in heaven when they die. Jesus said that no one took His life, but He sacrificed it for us and then came back to life again! (John 10:18)
Have you thanked Jesus for doing this for you?
