Why does God allow so much evil in the world?

Answer:  God is the Creator of all things. God knows all and sees all. Nothing escapes His notice and grasp!  Nothing and no one takes him by surprise.  Could God stop all evil from happening?  Of course!  So, why doesn’t He?

On the daily news, we hear of every kind of tragedy, including so many caused by people who committed terrible, senseless crimes:  Children abducted and murdered, men and women attacked and beaten, people rioted in the streets, policemen killed while trying to help, businesses destroyed, government offices fire bombed, elected leaders threatened and hated.  All of this has happened, in the wake of diseases that spread to more victims.

It’s natural to ask God, why?  He certainly could block crimes from being committed and protect innocent people, especially children.  God DOES intervene many times, but we just aren’t aware of it.  The age-old question has been, why does God protect some people but not others?  Only God knows His reasons.  Often, God sends help because of our prayers!  The apostle James was inspired by God to write that the prayers of righteous people carry great influence with God. (James 5:16)

However, if I were you, I would appeal to God and lay my cause before Him – the One who does great and unsearchable things, wonders without number. He gives rain to the earth and sends water upon the fields. He sets the lowly on high, so that mourners are lifted to safety. He thwarts the schemes of the crafty, so that their hands find no success. He catches those who think they’re wise in their craftiness and sweeps away the plans of the cunning. They encounter darkness by day and grope at noon as in the night.  -Job 5:8-14

Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons and daughters, your wives, and your homes. When our enemies heard that we were aware of their plot and that God had frustrated it, we all returned to our jobs of building the wall, each to his own work…Our God will fight for us!  -Nehemiah 4:14-20

The Lord watches over the foreigner and sustains the fatherless and the widow, but he frustrates the ways of the wicked.  -Psalm 146:9

Long ago, God created our world and pronounced it good, but sin arrived through the tempting of Adam and Eve by Satan in the garden of Eden.  Since then, the devil has been allowed by God to tempt mankind and bring destruction on the world.

Still today, God is allowing Satan’s havoc on the earth, but this season is coming to an end.  The GOOD NEWS is that God has promised that better days are coming!  Paradise on earth!

In the Bible, Revelation 20 begins the description of what life will be like when Jesus returns to live with His people, and those will be joyous days!  He will return to remove Satan and establish peace for 1,000 years. Revelation 21 shows what follows, a newly created, glorious earth:

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, not crying, either shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away. And He that sat upon the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said unto me, “Write – for these words are true and faithful.”  Revelation 21:4-5

Jesus is coming back to the earth, but no one knows which day.  Are you prepared for Jesus’ arrival?  You must be counted as one of His own followers who He has adopted into His eternal family.  Talk to Him right now and say:

Jesus, I want you to guide me for the rest of my life on the earth. I know that I have done terrible things and deserve punishment, but I accept that you’ve offered me your gift of forgiveness!  You died on a cross to pay for my sins and then rose from the dead on the third day afterwards. I want to come to be with you in heaven when I die and then live on the earth with you and all of your family in the future.  You have offered me eternal life with you in Paradise, and I accept!  Thank you!
