Answer: The Bible says that all sin is sin to God! You may be surprised to read what King Solomon listed first:
These six things the Lord hates. Yes, seven are horrible to Him:
A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that kill the innocent, a heart that makes evil plans, feet that run quickly to do evil, a witness who lies, and one who spreads stories which cause people to be mad at each other.
Proverbs 6:16-19
Although Solomon mentioned pride first, he did list lying twice! The Bible writers warned repeatedly about having pride. Pride is defined as excessive self-esteem or conceit. It’s a sin of attitude, of thinking you are better than others. The opposite is humility. Paul wrote that no one should think of himself as being better than others. We must remember that God has given each of us each different abilities that are equally important to Him:
…don’t think of yourself more highly than you ought to. Think carefully about how God has dealt to each person a measure of faith. We believers are like a human body with many parts that are just as important to the life of a person. We each have a different gift so let’s use them. Romans 12:3-6
One thing is certain: Every person has sinned, and God knows it. (Romans 3:23) Whatever our weakness has been in the past or still is, Jesus has already made us right with God if we have accepted His free gift of forgiveness through His Son, Jesus! Have you told Jesus that you know that He died on the cross for you so that your sin record has been erased? If you ask Him to help you avoid that sin in the future, He will. All you have to do is admit that you need His help and ask! And listen and watch for His answers.
