Question:
I would like to know all that I possibly can about God. How do I know that the Bible is true and not just the opinions of the men who wrote it?

Answer:
Men who were inspired by God wrote the scriptures in the Bible over a period of 1600 years. God used these men not only to record this history but also to recopy it and preserve it during the early centuries. The apostle Paul wrote:
…when you received the word of God from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men but as the real truth, the word of God, which effectively works in all of you who believe.
1 Thessalonians 2:13
While on earth, Jesus taught the Old Testament scriptures as the absolute truth to His disciples: “…All of these things have been fulfilled which were written about Me in the past by Moses, the prophets, and in the Psalms.” Then Jesus opened the minds of His disciples so they could understand fully for the first time what the scriptures were saying. (Luke 24:44-45) The scriptures must be true because Jesus said so!
Historical documents other than the Bible have also confirmed that events long ago really happened the way the Bible says they did. Jesus proved that the events that the Bible predicts for the future will definitely take place.
The entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation points to one person: Jesus.
“Immanuel”, another name for Jesus, means “God on earth with us.” (Matthew 1:23 & Isaiah 7:14) Christians base their hopes for a future life in heaven on the fact that Jesus came into the world to save them from a dark, lonely existence in hell after the death of their earthly bodies. When Jesus died on the cross and rose again to a new life, He demonstrated for us how believers will live in heaven when they die.
The Bible provides the facts. When you pray, ask God whether the Bible tells the truth. He wants you to know His truth. That’s why He has made sure that you still have the Bible, His truths, today.
